Towing warehouse cages means a tow tractor or AGV pulls several cages at once, replacing manual pushing or one-by-one forklift moves. With a well-configured tow system, one train can pull 5 to 10 cages; configured poorly, the train breaks apart on turns and drifts on ramps.
The basic three-piece set: a tow hook, a connecting draw bar, and a rear anti-collision bar. The tow hook is mounted on the front or side of the cage and welded to the posts and base frame—not just to the mesh. The draw bar is round steel or square tube with hooks or pins at both ends, linking the cage in front to the one behind; the rear bar prevents a following cage from slamming directly into the front cage's mesh.
The number of towed cages matters. A 3-ton tow tractor can pull 6 to 8 fully loaded cages on flat ground, but halve that on ramps steeper than 3 degrees, and drop two more in sites with large turning radii. The total train length must not exceed the tow tractor driver's field of view, or both turning and reversing become uncontrollable.
Safety details: every towed cage must have its brake applied or its wheels fitted with wheel chocks; cargo inside must be stacked securely and not shift; towing speed must be kept under 5km/h—about a fast walking pace. For cages towed frequently, the base frame must be reinforced, with post wall thickness no less than 2.0mm.
When customizing, give the manufacturer the tow-hook height of your tractor, how many cages per train, and your site's ramp data; the manufacturer calculates the weld strength at the tow point. Nanjing Tongnuo Warehouse Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. supports tow-type cage customization, including the full set of tow hook, draw bar and mounting brackets.
